Financial Sustainability for Higher Education: A Roadmap for Kenyan Private Universities

This book explores the strategies that Kenyan Private Universities have instituted to address the issue of financial sustainability. The author argues that different universities’ strategies are insufficient to address their long-term financial sustainability due to several internal and external challenges. The purpose of this book therefore is to propose a roadmap towards financial sustainability based on grounded theory design whose focus is to develop, review, and diversify revenue streams to improve cashflow and financial viability. To achieve this, the universities need to put in place qualified and experienced leadership as well as robust organizational structures that can deliver results rather than just maintain the status quo. Such a leadership needs to maintain a healthy consultative relationship with policy makers, stakeholders, partners, and other higher education practitioners so that they can dialogue on emerging issues and work together in a complimentary approach.
