Synopsis

The proposal Jua Kali Model No. 2 proposes to make use of three resources (Youth, Waste, Jua Kali) not used in and by Kenyans and when used at all, they are seriously under-utilized and/or maligned. The troika for use in this proposal is: the uneducated and other youths, the work places used by men and women of Jua kali and, thirdly, our enormous stacks of waste (garbage). The main objective of this proposal is to suggest some changes to the continuing efforts to empower and prepare our youth for either employment or self-employment. This proposal emphasizes self-employment. Using what is available in and within the informal sector (Jua kali) programs and activities in the villages, wards and counties, this proposal represents an effort to suggest and develop some viable and practical ways of empowering and assisting our youth to either be employable or to be self-employed.
