Achieving Quality in Privately Sponsored Programmes in Public Universities: A Focus on Kenya
Synopsis
In this book, the writer makes a major contribution to issues in education in Kenya in general and in particular to those surrounding the privately sponsored, module two or direct entry degree programmes. No doubt these programmes have elicited a lot of debate ranging from support to condemnation. Sometimes, the opposing sides of the debate have depended on hearsay or their own notions of what really happens. The work approaches contentious issues very objectively and, using the experience of Moi University, brings out all aspects that require attention in the debates surrounding the programmes. Through a well structured approach, the writer traces the evolution of the programmes at Moi University while simultaneously describing the status of the PSSP programme. The work is an important reference for scholars and policy makers but also comes out as compulsive reading for the general public interested in understanding the ideas and implementation of the programmes as well as their criticism and achievement.
