Church and Secondary Schools Management: The Case of Mbale Diocese, Uganda
Synopsis
In view of this age of rapid change due to globalization, technological advancement and knowledge revolution, the author of this book addresses the following question: “How can church founded schools in Africa maintain high moral and spiritual values and still keep their academic excellence?” The book attempts to respond to this major question through a research that was conducted in Mbale Uganda, among schools whose mission calls for integration of faith and learning. Unfortunately, due to the competitive nature of the environment in which the schools are located, the mission has been stunted, thereby making that integration of faith and learning difficult for various reasons. One of these reasons is the fact that schools today are operating on a business model that affects their initial mission. This is true, not only, for schools in Mbale in Uganda, but it is a reality all over the African continent. As a way forward, the author recommends visionary leadership that sees the physical and human resources in the environment where the organization is located and turns them into useful resources to achieve the overall goals of the organization. This book is highly recommended for those who are involved in educational leadership and management.
