The Teaching of Communication Skills Module: A Research Experience from Tanzania

This book is specifically designed to guide facilitators and students of Communication Skills module in Higher Education institutions in Tanzania. The book provides a successful guide to acquisition of knowledge and Skills through use of English language in Communication. The Communication Skills module was introduced in Higher Education institutions in Tanzania to help students develop and improve communication skills in English language while learning in their areas of academic specializations. However, the students have been facing difficulties while expressing themselves using English language even after undertaking the module. The main question has been: How is the module implemented in Tanzania in terms of teaching/learning, resources and assessments? The contents of this book provide understanding on the implementation of the Communication Skills module in Tanzania’s Higher learning institutions. The book further highlights the challenges facing the implementation of the module associated with poor background of students and facilitators, the curricula and syllabi, the teaching and learning process and resources, suggesting how such challenges can be addressed by the facilitators and the students.
