The Quality of Education Provided to Orphaned Children under Foster Care

Education is an essential investment in our society. It is an asset for the reduction of ignorance, disease and poverty. The higher the education level of the mother, the higher the health status of the family. This book is the outcome of a quantitative survey and qualitative study whose objective was to assess the quality of education provided to orphaned children under foster care. More than 1.5 million Kenyans have died of AIDS, leaving 1.78 million orphans. This study concluded that the quality of education provided to orphaned children under foster care is poor and inadequate. Evidence is inconsistency in school attendance, poor academic performance and high school dropout rate. This can result in increased crime rate, and a cyclic syndrome of poverty and disease. The author recommends that parents write a will to ensure that their children get basic needs including education. The target population includes parents, students, children’s officers, policy makers, religious and non-governmental officers.
