Synopsis
This teaching guide is designed for teachers and prospective teachers of French as a foreign and second language. It is a result of numerous complaints expressed by practitioners in the field of teaching French. There is proof that French teachers lack training in different areas such as: lesson preparation from a basic text, understanding and learning French language linguistic structures and/or grammar; lesson preparation in reading and vocabulary. It aims to fill such gaps for effective and efficient teaching of French. The guide is useful in that through its content, users will realize that each lesson of each sub- branch in French is prepared and taught differently from one another and each has its procedure. By using this educational guide, users will be in a position to formulate specific operational objectives that are observable and measurable, assimilate general principles of teaching French, apply each of these principles in designing and planning of lessons, choose the mode, teaching method, process, technology and resources based on the objectives and the group involved, among others. It is expected that the book will stimulate interest and further discussion among practitioners and researchers in the field of French as a foreign and second language.
